We have painstakingly tried to put the proper age that the manufacture recommends on every item. In the end you should be the final decision maker on what toy is appropriate, as you understand better than anyone, the level and abilities of the child in your life. Also keep in mind, using this as an example,  we have many items that are recommended for ages 3, that are routinely purchased for kids 5 years old and older. That is why we say for ages (something) and up.
